Seaview Sails and Rigging is a Limited
Liability company formed in August 2011 by David Molen and Todd Olson to
fill a gap in the Wellington market. Our loft has 165sq.m of space, big
enough to lay a TP52 main out.
Our Mission statement is : Provide the best service to

Dave Molen is the kind of guy
you want fixing or rigging your sails – or for that matter attending to
any heavy duty sewing or canvas job. That’s because he knows how
important it is to get it right! With over 20 years experience in
sail-making and a passion for sailing, he is a well trained,
hard-working, experienced sail-maker and rigger with a great attention
to detail.
Dave’s work highlights

Dave completed his sail making apprenticeship at Port Nicholson
Sails in 1993

He worked in Europe on super yachts in the Mediterranean and
Caribbean

Managed sail lofts and spent time in The Marlbourgh Sounds

Worked as a sailmaker for the One World America's Cup Syndicate
in 2002

Gained 3 years of expertise as a rigger with Mike McCormick
rigging in Tauranga

Has worked in sail-making and rigging for Wellington and Mana based
clients since 2005

Understands the importance of a sturdy swim bag, well put together
trampoline and school shade – with 2 daughters at primary school –
this type of stuff really counts.
Dave’s Sailing experience

Dave loves racing and has competed in many different classes; 12ft
skiff inter-dominions and nationals ,R class Leander trophies, E5.9
nationals ,Ross 780 and Young 88 nationals , Flying Fifteen and
Trailer Yacht nationals, as well as most of the local offshore races
over the years.

He has crossed the Atlantic ocean and sailed to and from Australia
and the Pacific Islands a number of times

Competed in various regattas, Port Nicholson, Waikawa and Hamilton
Island numerous times

Raced successfully on Pretty Boy Floyd , Ran Tan ll, 88 Proof and
Flidders Green.

Dave also enjoys cruising in the Marlbourgh Sounds, Fjordland, Bay
of Islands and The Whitsundays
Todd Olson
Todd grew up in Whitby, learning to sail at Paremata
Boating Club when he was 6, Todd has represented Wellington in the Tanner
Cup and also NZ in the 1997 International One Meter Class World Champs.
Todd has over 10 years experience in both sail repairs
and rigging. Most of my experience was gathered off shore in Bermuda,
where I worked in a Sail loft that was a North Sails agent and also had
a Rigging side. I have stepped many new and re-rigged masts, some well
over 100'.
Todd has sailed many classes and has experience on
many types of keelboats, Optimist, P Class, Starling, Laser, Laser II,
420, 470, Sunburst, E1050, MRX, Muir 8.2, RP80, J24, E22, IOD, J105,
J109 and more...
